PHILIPSBURG – Nicole De Weever, President and Founder of Art Saves Lives Foundation accepted the award for Outstanding Community Service at the SHTA’s Annual Crystal Pineapple Awards at the Sonesta Maho Resort on Friday Evening.

In her acceptance speech Ms. De Weever give honor to her friend Erika Cannegieter-Smith who was instrumental in the founding of Art Saves Lives. Ms. De Weever also thanked the corporate sponsors, funding agencies, community and donors for enabling the organization to hold its annual Summer Initiative. Special thanks were extended to Mr. Sudi Özkan of Princess Port de Plaisance Resort and Mr. Marc Morand of Port de Plaisance Country Club for hosting the annual Summer Program on their premises.
Joining Ms. De Weever to accept the award on behalf of Art Saves Lives Foundation was Project Manager and Secretary of the foundation, Ari Sutton. About Art Saves Lives

Art Saves Lives Program (ASLP) is a cross-cultural exchange between youth in need and experienced practicing artists who seek to use their talents for positive change. This collaborative project will select renowned artists from around the world who use the arts to introduce participants to global and local traditions and empower them with the life skills necessary to effectively deal with the demands and challenges of everyday life. The program will also provide guidance for young artists with aspirations in pursuing a career in the arts. ASL 2014, an intensive week long workshop program was held June 23-28thon St. Maarten. ASL 2015 is scheduled for June 22-27, 2015.
