Today, the Sint Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) officially announced “Branding Sint Maarten” as the theme of its annual Crystal Pineapple Awards fundraiser gala. By using the business expertise of the large amount of entrepreneurs and stakeholders visiting the event, SHTA wants to create a solid foundation for making Sint Maarten even more famous than it already is. The Award Ceremony is scheduled to be held on Saturday November 19th, 2016 at Sonesta Maho Resort & Casino at 6.30pm.

Over the past year, SHTA has done various efforts to reinforce the country’s brand abroad. Last year SHTA initiated the Expedia/TripAdvisor Campaign and promoted Sint Maarten in the USA Today newspaper together with the Ministry of TEATT. This year, various workshops were held on the topic on what a new brand Sint Maarten could look like. Participants of the annual gala are requested to share their opinions and ideas.

By means of the efforts, SHTA builds on the conviction that the best brand Sint Maarten can be built bottom up – by Sint Maarteners and their most loyal customers. Next to that, being the largest business representative on island, SHTA is convinced that the island has enough talent to produce its own award winning campaign. To prove the latter, Sint Maarten creatives will be the keynote speakers of the night. By means of teaser videos and advertisements, various respected Sint Maarten creatives have been requested to show their ideas of what branding country Sint Maarten should look like. The creatives will present their ideas and artwork to the 400 Crystal Pineapple guests.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Crystal Pineapple Awards. Last ten tickets are up for sale! Tickets are available at the SHTA office any time during office hours 8am – 5pm for the Award Gala.

The SHTA, the largest business representative on the island, is dedicated to bringing quality to all aspects of life on St. Maarten by promoting sustainable economic development for its members in cooperation with the social partners and the creation of a fair marketplace.
