SHTA focuses on advocacy, destination promotion and product development.

As a SHTA hotel member you have the opportunity to be linked to the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA), which hosts an elaborate package of benefits, including promotion, representation, training opportunities and more. You are also included in SHTA’s marketing efforts, with the inclusion in the monthly Travel Agent newsletters, and other promotional tools.

In addition to promotion, SHTA is also involved in product development and advocacy. We seek to upgrade St. Maarten’s tourism product via educational and environmental programs for example. Via our advocacy programs we address new legislation on a federal and an island level, which may be detrimental to the tourism industry. A strong central organization can be much more effective in dealing with important issues than all the resorts or restaurants making their individual case.
