“While most winners at the Crystal Pineapple Awards accepted their trophies calmly Friday evening, rookie of the year Julian Pop celebrated his election as if he’d just broke Usain Bolt’s world record on the 100 meter dash. He threw his arms up in the air, and then fell on his knees on the stage at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino. In an emotional little speech that came straight from the heart, Pop thanked the government “for allowing me to come here.””
