Curaçao has its own digital map that allows tourists to discover the island. The launch was on Tuesday 15 February during a presentation at the Avila Hotel. In the presence of people from the tourism sector, including hotel owners, CTB, CHATA and various tour providers, the operation of the so-called iMap was demonstrated by SHOWME Caribbean. With this concept, the makers of the map meet a need by showing the beauty of Curaçao in a practical way.

The interactive map works in the same way as Google Maps and offers a number of categories of pins that indicate where they are located on the map. After clicking the pin, a field with photo and information opens. Unique are the many 360 panorama photos that show the beauty of Curaçao. Due to the collaboration with caribbean-tours and booking.com, it is also possible to book activities or make reservations via the card. Companies that are not yet on the map can register via info@showmecaribbean.com.

It is also possible to use the iMap on the mobile phone. The GPS function provides location determination and soon the map will be expanded with a navigation tool. By scanning a QR code, the card appears on a mobile phone. Soon the QR codes will be found at many locations, such as at the airport and hotel bailes.

In addition to its own URL, the map will also be placed on other websites. The many websites about Curaçao can embed the map for free. Agreements have already been made with several websites and there is also consultation with the CTB about the use of the interactive island map.

SHOWME Caribbean has developed the program to build the interactive maps itself. They have now made an interactive map for Pietermaai and they are working on an iMap for the center of Philipsburg on Sint Maarten. SHOWME Caribbean is making a trip outside the Caribbean for the Dutch island of Texel. There are now requests from other areas and locations on Curaçao and the Caribbean. Curaçao is the first island with a fully interactive map.
