In the late 80s and early 90s on St. Maarten, the best way to have explored the coastline and surrounding islands was aboard small and fast sail catamarans like El Tigre, Falcon, Quiksilver and Eagle that carried few passengers – but not anymore.
When Aqua Mania brought in one of the first larger sail catamarans on the island, it changed the face of day sails and excursions forever. Lambada, a 65-foot sail catamaran, built by Gold Coast Yachts, was revolutionary in size, capacity for passengers, comfort with a proper walk-up bar and two regular toilet facilities – and it could maintain record speeds.
Lambada earned a great reputation for an engaging crew, clean facilities, exotic destinations and the most fun you can have on a day-trip on St. Maarten. Visiting the gorgeous deserted island of Prickly Pear Cay, and breath-taking Meads Bay on Anguilla, she soon became a sought-after day sail catamaran.
July 4 is Lambada’s birthday, and a fun day sail to Prickly Pear Island is planned. This is an event you don’t want to miss. In lieu of garden barbecues, hot dogs and parades, we offer a leisurely sail to Prickly Pear Island, crystal clear waters to snorkel in, a Caribbean BBQ lunch and a swim stop and beautiful Meads Bay – a great way to spend the 4th of July. Lambada’s day-sails are Tuesdays to Fridays every week.
Saturday nights on St. Maarten are for lively and engaging experiences. Lambada offers the perfect setting for a memorable night out, with its miles of changing scenery, cold drinks from the open bar and tasty snacks. It’s the perfect chance to escape the ordinary and set sail into the breath-taking sunset.
Lambada departs Simpson Bay Resort on Thursday and Saturday evenings for sunset sails with fun and attentive staff on board. Meet the crew: Your Captain Preston from Montserrat, and Atiba, Marlo and Albert from St. Maarten. This fun and lively crew will serve drinks and snacks, as Lambada makes her way up the coast to Long Beach, taking in the sights. As the sun paints the sky with hues of orange and pink, ask the crew to capture your picture-perfect moments against the backdrop of the setting sun.
