The St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum scavenger hunt winners The Adventurers.

PHILIPSBURG–St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum held a small prize-giving ceremony for its recent scavenger hunt on Saturday, June 3.

Five teams walked away with fabulous prizes. The Adventurers were the overall winning team, coming in at first place. This was the only team that completed all questions in the scavenger hunt. Soualiga Treasure Seekers and Finders Keepers placed second, Team Legend Hunters came in third, Girls Living on the Rock fourth and Divas on the Run came in fifth place.

The team Divas on the Run also won a prize for the most creative wear and Blended Sisters won the event’s “Coolest Team” title. This was the team chosen as the most lively team. They were the lucky winners of Buss Di Chains Cooler Fete tickets.

Each team was presented with its gifts during the ceremony.

In total 17 teams took part in the day-long event that took them to six museums on St. Maarten: Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit, the St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum, Parotte Ville Heritage Museum, Amuseum Naturalis, Emilio Wilson Museum and Pasture Piece SXM.

The scavenger hunt was part of the museums’ observance of International Museum Day, Thursday, May 18. This year’s theme “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being” is in line with addressing museums’ contribution to the well-being and the sustainable development of their communities.

St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum Director Amaris Richardson expressed her joy and gratitude for the participation of all teams and the various museums that contributed to the success of the event. She noted that many shared their excitement and awe after visiting and learning about what each unique museum has to offer.

Richardson further extended thanks to the sponsors for providing the prizes for the winning teams. These include Amsterdam Cheese, Aqua Aquamania/Sunset Sail, Kerai Kreative Style, Penha, Come y Calle, Holland House, Oyster Bay Resort – Infinity Restaurant, Blush, Scents by K, Sweet and Turf, Simpson Bay Resort, Ace, Buss Di Chains – Cooler Fete, Chesterfields, Makana, Domino’s Pizza, Island Rebel Yoga, Skip Jacks, Le Perle Bleu and Carl ’n Son, and to Rainforest Adventures, Pasture Piece St. Maarten, Amuseum Naturalis/Mark Yokoyama, Parotte Ville Birdpark and Heritage Museum, Yoda Guy Exhibit, Ketty Leblanc, and St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum staff and board members.

The evening closed with a rendition of an original story by Papa Umpu about the salt pond goddess.
