Philipsburg, July 7th, 2015 – The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA), the largest business representative on the island, and North South Net International Ltd. (NSN), the publisher of the official in-room magazine of the SHTA Visit St. Maarten/St. Martin, are sponsoring a joint radio marketing campaign during the months of June and July to promote the destination throughout gateway cities in the Northeast Region of the United States.

With less marketing dollars to spend during the past few years, the SHTA has continuously been looking for innovative, cost-effective ways to promote the destination. The campaign follows the “Save the Summer” white paper presented to Government in 2013 by SHTA, a joint effort between the SHTA and the Tourism Office. “We have all seen the profits that are made during the high tourist season disappear during the low season. As a result, we need to focus our attention on increasing the shoulder season and creating additional interest in St. Maarten/St. Martin during the low season”, said SHTA.

Thanks to the added value program negotiated with the publisher of Visit St. Maarten/St. Martin, they have set up a radio campaign inviting listeners to visit the StMaartenSummer.com website, which directs traffic to the special sweepstakes landing page, created by marketing Agency Tambourine on the St. Maarten Tourist Office website. “We are very excited about the radio campaign in the Northeast. This is one example of the SHTA and NSN diligently working together as a team to promote our Friendly Island and attract more visitors to St. Maarten/St. Martin during the summer months. NSN has been a valued strategic partner and the magazine has been a valuable resource for our visitors. In addition, this campaign has enabled both the SHTA and Tourist Office to work closely together on this unique and far reaching marketing effort” said Anenda Zaandam, Executive Director of SHTA.

The SHTA’s partnership with NSN allows Visit St. Maarten/St. Martin magazine to be exclusively distributed inside the rooms of their member hotels on the Dutch side and many of the hotels on the French side, all of which have signed agreements to have this magazine prominently displayed in their rooms. In addition, overprints are available at all of their advertisers’ establishments and other strategic locations, including the airport and the Harbour.

The richly illustrated magazine captures the beauty of our island paradise. It provides visitors with visually appealing photographs, captivating stories and valuable information about the island’s shopping, dining, activities and attractions, as well as sports, spas, history, arts and culture. The goal is to promote tourism to both sides of the island and provide our visitors and overnight guests with the highest quality of information during their stay. You can find a copy of the digital magazine at visitstmaarten.com/ezine.

Visit St. Maarten/St. Martin advertisers are also provided a position on the official VisitSt.Maarten.com website, where you can download the official SHTA digital magazine. The 2016 edition will be available on the website in December 2015. The website and magazine are promoted on local radio year round, encouraging visitors to use the magazine as their guide to the best of St. Maarten/St. Martin. The latest addition to the digital program is the interactive Video Kiosk Program that has already been installed in 18 hotel lobbies on St. Maarten and will soon be available on the French side as well.
