Philipsburg – The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association’s all-encompassing Job fair, to be held on October 24th at the NIPA Institute, has partnered with Department of Labor Affairs ‘Start Here’ Campaign. This Private-Public Partnership further expands the SHTA’s desire to assist as many persons as possible in finding gainful employment.

The job fair is an initiative designed to create multiple avenues for employment seekers to successfully find employment within all industries on St. Maarten. In an effort to broaden the range of jobs available the Association invited the Department of Labor Affairs to participate. SHTA hopes that this partnership will give an added boost to the launched ‘Start Here’ Campaign of the Department of Labor Affairs. Both the SHTA and the Department of Labor Affairs will join forces in marketing this very lucrative Private-Public partnership.

During the preparatory meetings with the Department of Labor Affairs the initiative and the partnership was met with enthusiasm. The ‘Start Here’ Campaign is designed to effectively match employment seekers with the relevant vacancies within the department, and with vacancies sourced thru the membership of SHTA. The goal is to create a database of employment seekers for efficient reference. In partnering with the SHTA Job Fair, the Department of Labor Affairs will pre-screen persons out of the 319 registered at the campaign on Thursday September 3rd, 2015. The pre-screening will be beneficial for matching persons to vacancies presented at the SHTA Job Fair.

SHTA will match the efforts of the Department of Labor Affairs by providing a preliminary list of vacancies to be presented at the fair. In addition, the list of registered Business participants will be provided to further assist the Department of Labor Affairs with their efforts. “SHTA and its members fully endorse and support the Start Here Campaign. We hope that our endorsement by way of having the department participate at the fair, will attract a wider range of employment seekers” said SHTA

Registration for both job seekers and businesses can be done via the website www.shta.com / Events. You will be directed to the ‘Job fair’ tab where you can select the appropriate form. Or can be picked up at the SHTA Office on Pond fill.

The SHTA is dedicated to bringing quality to all aspects of life on St. Maarten by promoting sustainable economic development for its members in cooperation with the social partners and the creation of a fair marketplace.
