The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association’s Robert Dubourcq meeting and training center saw its busiest month since its opening in August 2023. The meeting and training room has been booked over half of the working days of the past month – a record till date.
Amongst others SHTA Academy trainings by Liesa Euton, member meetings and conventions with fellow business associations St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA), the Indian Merchants Association (IMA) St. Maarten Timeshare Association (SMTA) made full use of the 2023 SHTA asset.
The Robert Dubourcq room can be complimentary used by SHTA members, fellow NGO’s and partners if in need of a centrally located brainstorm, training or meeting room and aims to contribute to professional education, NGO assistance and business growth. It is named after the founder, twice president and later executive director of SHTA Robert “Bob” Dubourcq.
Newly (re)appointed SHTA board member John Caputo, whose “Domino’s Pizza” employees enjoyed trainings in the room recently: “Bob was societally very active, from his pioneering in the hospitality industry to his achievements as a Rotarian. The way this room has found use over the past years would have befitted Robert’s spirit, always on the outlook to grow the island as a whole, business people and their employees alike”. Amongst many other achievements, Dubourcq was founder of the “Dollar A Day Fund”, elected Caribbean hotelier of the year in 2004 by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) in 2004. He was also honored with the SHTA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He passed away in 2018.
