The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry (COCI) provided a masterclass workshop on March 26th at this year’s St. Maarten Innovations, Initiatives & Industries Link-Up Event (SMILE). Attendees received a very informative and dynamic presentation provided by the Executive Director, Mr. Jude Houston on the Chamber’s development and the ongoing initiatives and policy advocation towards economic growth and community development.

Other aspects of the presentation provided include information on new services- which include its B2B connect platform, which is a centralized platform where St. Maarten businesses can make themselves available for matchmaking interactions locally, regionally, and internationally. Attendees were also given an insight into the economic developments and business trends as captured in the Trade Registry of the Chamber.
Attendees were also informed of the mandate and regulatory function of COCI to register all operating entities and maintain the Trade and Commercial Register of St. Maarten, and how it differs from other Chambers of Commerce outside of the Dutch Kingdom. Mention was also made of the obligation of businesses and entities to the Chamber of Commerce, while at the same time role and duty of COCI in promoting economic growth and development through advocacy and business support to the business community.

As sponsorship partners of SMILE 2022, COCI had the opportunity to set up an information booth and interact with attendees on a personal level to which on-sight support and information were provided as it relates to COCI’S operations. Persons were also shown how to navigate COCI new and improved website.

For the balance of the year, the general public can be sure to look forward to COCI continued collaboration on efforts toward building business relationships and securing their continued growth and development.
