Windward Island Airways International (WINAIR) N.V. recently welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Honourable Reuben T. Meade, Premier of Montserrat, alongside Camille Thomas-Gerald, Permanent Secretary, for discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding relationship between Winair and Montserrat and exploring opportunities to further support the island’s connectivity and development.
The meeting provided an important platform for open dialogue on Winair’s role in connecting Montserrat with the wider Caribbean. Discussions highlighted the importance of reliable regional air access to Montserrat’s tourism sector, business community, residents, diaspora, and overall economic development.
As a regional airline, Winair recognizes that air connectivity goes beyond transportation. For island communities such as Montserrat, dependable links to neighbouring destinations provide essential access to business, tourism, education, healthcare, family, and onward international travel.
Premier Meade and the Winair team discussed the existing relationship between Montserrat and Winair, as well as opportunities for continued collaboration to strengthen connectivity and encourage greater movement between Montserrat, St. Maarten, and the wider region.

During the meeting, Winair also extended an invitation to Premier Meade and his delegation to join the airline in celebrating its 65th anniversary, a significant milestone in Winair’s history of connecting the Caribbean.
As part of this milestone celebration, Winair has invited stakeholders from across its network and the wider region to come together in recognition of the partnerships and relationships that have contributed to the airline’s journey over the past 65 years. The invitation to the Government of Montserrat reflects the longstanding relationship between Winair and the island and the important role that regional partnerships continue to play in Winair’s success.
The discussions further underscored the value of maintaining a close working relationship between Winair and the Government of Montserrat. Both parties expressed their commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation, with a shared interest in strengthening Montserrat’s accessibility and supporting sustainable growth.
