The St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA) and CC1 have officially opened the 2027 Event Calendar season. Island event organizers, NGOs, clubs, hotels, and restaurants can now submit events for the 11th edition of the calendar, which highlights activities taking place across the island for residents and visitors.
CC1 Calendar Project Leader Charika Caines looks forward to co-producing the calendar with SHTA. “We are delighted to enter the second decade of this landmark calendar as SHTA’s main calendar partner for 2027. From Carnival to the SMART tradeshow, sporting events such as the Round the Island Relay Race and football tournaments, to Nature Foundation Beach Cleanups, CC1 has been a partner in many island events. Now, we are taking this feature to a new level by supporting even more events that make the island vibrant throughout the year.”
The launch of the 2027 calendar project also means that, in the coming weeks, a binational committee will reveal the identity of the “Cultural Icon” featured in the 2027 calendar. The 2026 Cultural Icon was the National Institute of Arts (NIA), which showcased various art forms at the historic Fort Amsterdam.
Caines added: “The committee has allowed me to share the scoop that the art form featured in the 2027 calendar is one that has never been highlighted in this way before.” Previous Cultural Icons represented fields including fashion (Zillah Duzon-Hazel), steelpan music (Dow Orchestra), painting (Ruby Bute and Roland Richardson), calypso (Beaubeau Brooks), choreography (Clara Reyes), and carnival.
The calendar is distributed both on and off the island, as well as online. Since its inception in 2016, St. Maarteners / St. Martinois have also been able to order a personal copy in advance.
Beyond serving as an event guide for people on island, the calendar functions as an important “business card” showcasing the island’s culture and vibrancy to visitors, travel agents, foreign dignitaries, and journalists planning their visits.
In addition to main partner CC1, SHTA is pleased to announce that Telem, AMA Jewelers, and Grant Thornton will continue supporting the 2027 Event Calendar, as they did in 2026 and with previous editions. Event organizers wishing to highlight their events, or residents interested in receiving a copy of the calendar, are invited to contact events@shta.com.
