Song, Dance, and Plant-Based Power for a Good Cause
Houten, June 21, 2025 — The musical theatre workshop Real Women Have Curves has raised an impressive €880 for the FREEGAN Food Foundation. Nine enthusiastic participants immersed themselves in singing, acting, and dancing, guided with heart and soul by theatre makers DJ Jansen and Joost de Jong.
Participants not only enjoyed creative expression but were also treated to a delicious plant-based lunch — perfectly in line with FREEGAN’s mission to create a fairer, more sustainable, and more inclusive food system.
The workshop took place at the STARDANCE studio, which generously donated the space. The result was a vibrant day full of energy, empowerment, and connection — all in the spirit of the musical Real Women Have Curves, a story about courage, solidarity, and embracing your strength.
FREEGAN Food Foundation, which fights for food security and equal opportunities on St. Maarten, is deeply grateful for this warm collaboration. The proceeds will go directly toward the further development of its client choice food bank and related coaching programs for households in vulnerable situations.
“What made this day special wasn’t just the amount raised, but above all the spirit of solidarity and joy,” the organization said. “Theatre as a tool to make a real impact — that’s exactly what FREEGAN stands for.”
Good news: DJ & Joost will return in January 2026 with a new series of musical theatre workshops, once again raising funds for FREEGAN.
